My friend, Jeff Cabreja, is a supremely talented artist based here in Reading, Pennsylvania. I was waiting for us to come together one day and really craft something memorable for one his songs or projects. We finally linked up November 2018, in order to sit down and discuss the art direction for his upcoming single at the time, “Pick Up”. He was previously going to use a photo from one of our past shoots, however I told him we can create something greater and really give his fans and listeners an experience visually.
I had the chance to listen to “Pick Up”, while he was creating it a few months before it was released. The song really has this nostalgic feeling to it, which I really wanted to emphasize with the pictures we were going to capture for the cover art and the overall rollout of the single. I decided I wanted to shoot on Penn Street, given that it is very historic and has a nostalgic feeling to it as well. I knew I wanted to shoot all the photos in black and white, in order to match the feeling and make it seem as if we went back in time.
I had a great time collaborating with Jeff on this shoot, and I am very pleased with how all the images came out! It is dope to know that one of them is know the cover for his single. I will say the only thing I wish I could change, was if I had the chance to also work with a stylist on this shoot, in order to take it to the next level! If you are a stylist reading this or if you know of one in the area please contact me! Stream “Pick Up” below and take a look at the rest of the images from the shoot!
